Dehradun to Lohajung (Approximately 300 kilometers)

● Our adventure begins as we depart from Dehradun early in the morning. The scheduled departure time is 6:00 AM, so please ensure you arrive at the designated location at least half an hour before. Lohajung, our destination for the day, lies approximately 300 kilometers away. The journey will take around 9-10 hours, with the road leading us through picturesque towns such as Rishikesh, Devprayag, Karnprayag, and Rudraprayag.

Highlights:

● Scenic Drive: Enjoy the breathtaking views as we wind our way through the mountains.
● Sightseeing: Along the route, we will engage in small sightseeing stops at places like Rishikesh and Devprayag.
● Accommodation: Upon reaching Lohajung, we will check into our hotel rooms for the night.
● Dinner: Dinner will be provided at the hotel.

Important Note:

● Cash Withdrawal: Make sure to withdraw any necessary cash from Dewal, a market area located 24 kilometers from Lohajung. While online transactions are occasionally available in Lohajung (especially for GooglePay or PhonePe users), it is best to withdraw cash in Dehradun itself.
● Network and Electricity: Lohajung serves as the base camp for other treks like the Brahmatal Trek and Roopkund Trek. At an elevation of 7,600 meters, this will be the last place where you will have access to electricity and network (Jio network is not available). Take advantage of this opportunity to make essential calls, as you will be disconnected from the rest of the world for the next four days.

DAY 2

Exciting journey from Lohajung to Tolpani via Didina Village

Starting Point: Lohajung
● Altitude: Approximately 7,700 feet (2,350 meters)
● Distance: Around 11 kilometers
● Trail Duration: Expect it to take 5-6 hours to reach the campsite.
● Trail Composition: The trail is a mix of ascent and descent. Roughly 50% of the trail involves climbing, while the other 50% descends.
● Scenery: As you trek, you will be surrounded by dense coniferous forests, creating a serene and picturesque environment.

Didina Village:
● Location: To the left of the trail, you will encounter Didina village.
● Campsite: Didina village serves as your first campsite. Imagine spending the night amidst the dense alpine forest, with the quietude broken only by the sounds of nature.

Tolpani:
● After ascending 1400 feet from Didina, you will arrive at Tolpani.
● Tolpani is a small grassy clearing nestled within the oak forest.
● Here, you can rest, rejuvenate, and soak in the natural beauty before continuing your trek.

Next Day Excitement:
● As you settle in for the night at Tolpani, let the anticipation build for your adventure of next day.
● Tomorrow, you will be trekking to Ali Bugyal, a place that promises breathtaking vistas and unforgettable experiences.
● Remember to start your trek at 9:00 AM after a hearty breakfast and some sightseeing. Enjoy the warm hospitality of the locals and immerse yourself in the natural wonders of this beautiful region. 🌲🏞️

DAY 3

Tolpani to Ali Bugyal

On the third day of your adventure, you will set off from Tolpani for the mesmerizing Ali Bugyal. Let us delve into the details of this exhilarating trek:

● Starting Point: Tolpani
● Altitude: Approximately 3400 meters (11,155 feet)
● Distance: The trail covers around 11-12 kilometers.
● Trek Start Time: Begin your journey at 9:00 AM.
● Estimated Arrival: You will reach Ali Bugyal by 3-4 PM.
● Campsite: Ali Bugyal will be your home for the third day.

Ali Bugyal:
● Panoramic Views: As you ascend, Ali Bugyal unfolds before you. This picturesque town offers wide grasslands and lush greenery, providing a full panoramic view of the Meadows.
● Size and Beauty: Ali Bugyal is renowned as one of largest meadows of India. Despite its grandeur, it remains less crowded due to its curvy and tricky trail.
● Winter Magic: During winter, Ali Bugyal transforms into a magical wonderland. The snow-covered meadows captivate your heart, leaving you spellbound.
● Enchanting Path: The trail winds through dense dark forests, creating a beautiful trek unlike any other.

Ali Bugyal to Bedni Bugyal

On the third day of your adventure, you will set off from Ali Bugyal for the mesmerizing Bedni Bugyal. Let us delve into the details of this exhilarating trek:

● Starting Point: Ali Bugyal
● Altitude: Approximately 3,354 meters (11,000 feet)
● Distance: The trail covers around 2 kilometers.
● Trek Plan: Your plan is to reach Bedni Bugyal, explore the area, and then return downhill towards Geruli Paatal for camping.
● Total Trek Distance: Approximately 6 kilometers.

Bedni Bugyal:
● Scenic Beauty: As you trek from Ali Bugyal, the landscape unfolds, revealing the stunning Bedni Bugyal.
● Mountain Views: From here, you will have clear views of Mt. Trishul and Nanda Ghunti, majestic peaks standing tall against the sky.
● Flora Wonderland: Bedni Bugyal is adorned with a rich variety of flora, captivating you at every step. Among these, the Brahm Kamal flower stands out, demanding your attention even at this height.
● Heavenly Location: This meadow has the power to surpass any other trekking spot, especially when it comes to meadows. Its vast expanse, combined with the grandeur of the surrounding mountains, will send shivers down your spine.
● Highest Bugyal in Uttarakhand: Bedni Bugyal holds the title of being the highest Bugyal in Uttarakhand.

Bedni Kund:

Night Stay at Geruli Paatal:

DAY 5

Geruli Paatal to Neelganga to Wan Village and Back to Lohajung

On the fifth day of your trek, you will embark on a unique and scenic journey from Geruli Paatal to Neelganga, and then to the lesser-known yet enchanting Wan Village. Finally, you will return to Lohajung by car. Let us explore this delightful trail:

● Starting Point: Geruli Paatal
● Trail Distance: Approximately 10 kilometers.
● Trail Highlights: Brace yourself for a heavenly experience as you traverse the ridges of the alpine meadow. The scenery along this trail is nothing short of mind-blowing.
● Natural Wonders: Expect to encounter big outcrops and vast grassy expanses that will surprise and captivate you.

Wan Village:
● Obscured Gem: Wan Village may be lesser-known, but it is a favorite resting spot for trekkers heading to or returning from Roopkund or Homkund treks.
● Untouched Greenery: Charm lies of Wan in its untouched greenery and the absence of crowds. With very few residents, it offers a serene atmosphere.
● Rest and Refresh: Trekkers can take a short rest here, refill their water bottles, and soak in the tranquility. Some choose to stay in the accommodations provided by villagers to fully immerse themselves in the peaceful vibe.

Laatu Devta Temple: Wan Village is home to the famous Laatu Devta Temple, revered for its power and religious significance among the locals.
● Mysterious Rituals: The temple remains closed most of the time, opening only in April. Locals share ancient stories - one of which involves a King Cobra arriving with its Pearl Stone during this time.
● Blindfolded Priest: During prayers, priest of the temple blindfolds himself, and only he is allowed to enter the temple doors. Others can pray from a distance of about 75 meters from the shrine.

DAY 6

Lohajung to Dehradun

On the final day of your remarkable trek, it is time to bid farewell to the majestic mountains and return to Dehradun. Let us capture the essence of this day:

● After a hearty breakfast, gather your memories and emotions as you prepare to leave Lohajung.
● The trails you have covered in the last 6 days - the laughter, the tiredness, the breathtaking scenes - will forever be etched in your heart.

Fond Goodbyes:
● The locals and their children, who have warmly welcomed you during your journey, will be waiting with open arms.
● Their smiles and genuine hospitality will linger in your thoughts long after you have left.

Sayonara and Howdy:
● As you board the bus back to Dehradun, say a heartfelt sayonara to the mountains.
● But also hold onto a sense of anticipation - a howdy - for your next adventurous trek, waiting just around the corner.
